Hello! I’m Lindsay Smith. I’m a writer, editor, content marketer, and digital strategist. Basically, I’m a word person. Always have been.

I got my start in elementary school, when I started obsessing over chapter books — truly in disbelief that all these new, exciting worlds were now available to me. I continued on this word-loving path through my undergraduate degree, which I got from the University of Michigan in English, Sociology, and African Studies, and then it somehow managed to stay intact as I earned my law degree from the University of Minnesota. I practiced law for a bit, representing children in immigration and foster care cases, before jumping back to my true love: writing.

I worked for years at National Geographic, where I led the travel, adventure, and culture departments. I wrote for the magazine, wrote and edited digital stories, ran social accounts, created branded content, represented National Geographic at conferences, traveled the world, met all kinds of amazing people, and told all kinds of amazing stories.

Today, I write and create content for businesses, brands, associations, nonprofits, universities, and media outlets. I develop digital strategies, create marketing plans, build brand and event campaigns, write social media and email copy, write and ghostwrite blogs and reports for organizations, and so much more. I also continue to write travel and family-focused stories for various outlets, including National Geographic, Disney Books, Metro Parent, and Chicago Parent.

I grew up in Michigan and have made my
way back after time in Minnesota and a
decade in Washington, D.C. When I’m not
writing, you can find me out exploring with
my very patient husband, our two
wild-thing children, and our
Bernedoodle, Maggie.

 Let’s do
something
cool together!
